SALES MANAGER - NORTH SEA

LOCATION: ABERDEEN, UK

RESPONSIBLE TO: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

The Company
The Company has grown substantially in the last few years and has ambitious plans for further expansion, both in its core market and also by promoting its broader capability, and the appointment of a Training and Development Manager is seen as key in helping the Company drive forward its strategic aims.

The Role
This is a senior management position and as such the candidate must have significant track record in sales with the offshore industries.  The candidate must be very familiar with and accustomed to the industry in this geographical region and preferably already be established in Aberdeen.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Responsibly represent the activities of the Company’s regional office in Aberdeen.  Ensure the activities of the regional office are managed and executed in accordance with defined CTC Management Systems and Procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for trenching, cable and flexible pipeline installation and other opportunities appropriate to the Company’s business plan. Follow up of approved / selected opportunities to secure formal ITT from the respective customer.

  • Secure ITT’s for work to enable the plan to be realised.  In this process:
    • Keep the market informed of Company services and equipment.
    • Identify opportunities and threats
    • Develop and maintain good customer relationships.
    • Undertake prequalification where necessary and ensure that ITT’s are received on time, logged in and handed over to Commercial.
    • Ensure timely completion of all tasks
  • Assess the present and future market in respect of customers, competitors, technology and economics, on a continual basis.
  • Provide input and assistance in the development of the Company’s annual business plan.
  • Whilst your principal responsibility in respect of each and any project or opportunity is discharged on receipt of the respective ITT, you will be expected to provide guidelines and assist the proposals department in developing a winning tender and to assist in the post tender follow up process.  It is important to analyse the reasons for success and failure in tenders and log these to assist in the improvement process.
  • Advise on potential improvements to existing equipment and the need and/or opportunity to introduce new equipment and services to improve performance, grow the Company or meet competitive threat.
  • Report in a timely manner and as directed on regional office and market activities.
  • Communication – good communication to your line manager is vital.  Regular updates and brief weekly written reports are to be provided, highlighting completed tasks for the current working week and plan for the week ahead.  Visit reports must be submitted for all meetings, highlighting content and actions.  Visits to head office as required.
  • Prior to joining the Aberdeen office, a period of time will be spent at the Head Office in order to become familiar with the Company, its products, services and Management Systems.
Business travel and attendance at conferences and exhibitions is essential.
